It takes an act of faith
Through our life’s journey
We ease our troubled minds
By the hopes we gather
And sorrows left behind
Life is a game of chance
Ours is to throw the die
We can play out our hand
Or wring our hands and sigh
Friends and lovers part ways
Repeating sad refrains
Though we cross the threshold
Memories still remain
Leave the stained glass panes and
Ivy hung walls behind
Their self-righteous ways
Bind up the heart and mind
Reborn with each sunrise
We move through our life’s dance
The only sin is to die
Without taking the chance
Measuring not mistakes
But the action that he takes
A man’s courage lives on
In the world he remakes
